N2  -   Following independence in 1975, Mozambique faced a massive outflow of skilled personnel, a poorly developed productive structure and a high degree of external dependence. In spite of this, the economy registered slight economic growth. However in the following three years economic growth was negative. An economic Rehabilitation Programme which used the polices of structural adjustment to attach economic imbalance launched in 1987 has been fairly successful
