It combines a biogas plant with a sludge conditioning unit. The biogas plant controls air pollution and produces the biogas. The sludge conditioning unit processes the sludge from the biogas plan to control water pollution and recover the sludge solids for recycling as fertilizer and feed materials. The biogas operation at Maya Farms demonstrates the viability and potentials of the biogas works. The livestock farm produces over 100 MT of manure and 1100 cu.m. of waste-water which are changed daily into the biogas works. The 9000 cu.m of biogas produced daily are used as fuel to provide power needs of the integrated livestock farm and meat processing enterprise. The sludge solids are partly recycled through the feed-mill while the rest are pelletized and sold as organic fertilizer. The conditioned liquid serves as fertilizer-irrigation water for the forage which is grown as cattle feed. Many other large livestock farms in the Philippines have established biogas works for environmental management. The biogas provides the energy requirement of the farm operations ER -
