In moving to development that is sustainable, the Caribbean is making the best case for the energy economy environment link. Affordable, reliable energy is an essential component in our regional economic development paradigm. Energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies have become an integral part of any comprehensive plan for economic development. The region is cognizant of this crucial role that energy efficiency plays and have taken steps to address this issue. In addition to participating in regional actions that address similar energy needs and dependence on imported fossil fuel, the United States Virgin Islands is sponsoring the 2nd Annual Caribbean Energy Conference. This Conference provides strategies for using energy as a catalyst for developing a sustainable Caribbean.
