Explains the concept of the Export Processing Zone (EPZ), the basic requirements for the development of an effective (EPZ) programme in Dominica, its attributes and the benefits to be derived from an EPZ. Benefits include broadening and diversifying economic base, raising per-capital income and enabling government to add to total revenues, reducing dependence upon one or two commodities as export staples, thereby improving the overall balance of trade. A well run EPZ would also enable the working force to become familiar with the management techniques which could in time become valuable exports.
