The paper addresses the question of which constitutional reform would be most appropriate to secure the commercial and economical objectives which the organization of Eastern Caribbean States has set for itself. This question provokes the issue of allocation of authority/power within the new political community. The author applies the term `Extended Republic' to the Eastern Caribbean seeing it as compatible with aspects of federation.
