The Caribbean Drug Control Coordination Mechanism (CDCCM) was established in 1998 to address the growing drug trafficking problem in the region. These reports analyzed the drug trends in the Caribbean between 1998 and 1999, focused on the impact of drug trafficking on the regions social and economic development, found on increase in cocaine trafficking through the Caribbean, a rise in drug-related violence, and the growing involvement of transitional criminal organization in the region. The report also highlights the need for increased regional coorperation and international assistance to combat the drug problem in the Caribbean. |
