Provides a physical description and assessment of the beaches in Tortola, with special attention to two problem areas: Trellis Bay and Josiah Bay. Outlines plan of activities for the control of sand mining and preservation of mangroves in Tortola and Beef Island. Recommends that dredging operations be moved to the mouth of Trellis Bay. This will preserve the coral reefs and avoid beach erosion. Mining should be stopped at Josiah Bay to prevent the onwash of sand. |
