Reviews the milk production systems in Dominica with a view to arriving at milk production models that would be suitable to satisfy the needs of the farmers. Suggests that dairy development system be undertaken first through the development of twenty-five satellite farms, and a larger propotion of small farms and a limited number of medium size farms. Collection, pasturization, processing and distribution of milk are to be included. Livestock production and marketing, prices of products, constraints of production, factors guaranteeing production are discussed. |
