| Summary, etc. | Purpose of the report is to provide health workers in the region of the Americas with the latest available information on the use and prevalence of contraception. Data on the coverage analyzed, as well as information on the proportion of women who use each method and the different governmental, intergovernmental and private programmes. Gives a descriptive analysis of the socio-economic and demographic characteristics of regular users of contraceptive methods, focusing on women of child-bearing age who, for personal reasons, lack of information, or simply lack of services, have not yet found a way to meet their reproductive health needs. Appendices include government positions on population growth and family planning in the American region, international planned parenthood chart on fertility and family planning. |
